You Don’t Have To You Get To!!!

Posted in Giving, Maxims with tags , on February 19, 2010 by thekeithrussell

I come from a discipleship program whose motto is “Trained To Serve Jesus 24/7”! We’ve lived by the credo, “You don’t have to – You get to!!!” for many years! So when I heard “Pas” (my loving expression of respect as taught by this discipleship group and which I’ve taught many others to use for Pastor) use this expression, I knew I was in the right place! I haven’t heard it for a while at High Point but I know it’s still at the heart of our worship. I just want to say that if pastor or anyone that you know has asked you to do something hard for the kingdom of God, simply look within yourself and ask if this is not in your heart. Then say out loud – I don’t have to – I get to!!! http://thenowhiningblog.blogspot.com https://setfreetexas.wordpress.com –  This post is being posted as it first appeared on the http://ilovehighpointchurch.wordpress.com blog this morning, with the exception of this notice!!!  Thanks TKR

Good morning Set Free Fans

I will be starting a series of articles this week that have been in my spirit since I left Set Free Fort Worth!  Stay tuned – you are about to be blessed in a very cool way!  The first article will be titled “Oh Yes You Are Promised Tomorrow”.  You need to stay dialed in right here to SET FREE TEXAS, although I will be posting these articles in a few other places, http://ilovehighpointchurch.wordpress.com , http://thenowhiningblog.blogspot.com & http://wisdomofenteringandleaving.blogspot.com I know that you true die hard SET FREEers will want to stay tuned right here!

In the interim let’s cover a little old ground, kind of like Peter when he said that he wanted to keep them reminded of these things that they already knew – like “adding to their faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. Wherefore the rather brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if you do these things, ye shall never fall.”

I especially like that last line.  Ye shall never fall. Thought that it was impossible?  Well right there is the way to make it possible.

So let’s talk – blessing and cursing, living and dying, thinking and praying, speaking and saying.

We will reference Deuteronomy 28:3-6, Galatians 3:13, Ephesians4:29, and Philippians 4:8

So let’s get started.  Let’s first recognize that no matter what is going on in the world around us or in our society that the Lord has commanded the blessings of Abraham on us.  So according to these blessings we are blessed in all that we do including all of our coming in and going out, which are the only two things that we ever do. (RE: Duet. 28:3-6 & Gal. 3:13)

So let’s talk about that doing of things for a little while.  According to the other two scripture references (Eph.4:29 & Phil. 4:8). We should only think on those things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely things and things of good report. (Phil. 4:8) The word, think, in this scripture is more akin to meditating than to just thinking.  The Word is the way to renew our minds, do you not all agree?  Then I submit that if we do this type of meditating we will do the correct speaking which is the other scripture reference that I gave (Eph. 4:29), Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace to the hearers.

So let’s meditate in the word and on good stuff (even about our current economy and political situation) and then we will speak the good stuff and yes remember that our worlds are framed by the words of our mouths (James 3:8-12).  So things will improve in our lives and those that we come into contact with.  Leaving us in the blessings of Abraham and released form the curse of the law!!!
